I got an x-ray camera hidden in your house
That sees what I can't see
And that man you were kissin' last night
Definitely was not me, oh baby

I SPY(FOR THE FBI) - JOHN HIATT    One of rock and roll's most underappreciated geniuses and an artist I have to thank ROCK for really opening my eyes to how complete a catalog of music he has.

NEXT LYRICS: Going almost as far back into this artist's catalog as you can for this great story/song

We were sittin' in the Krystal
About as drunk as we could be
In walked the deputy sheriff
He was holding our TV
He roughed us, then he cuffed us
And he took us off to jail
No picture on a poster, no reward, and no bail[]

Thanks for the thanks, Rhino and Fans!  I'm happy just to spread the gospel of Hiatt; he really is one of the best-kept secrets in the music world.

Here's one from the 2000s by another of my favorite songwriters:

Chief Detective Rambouillet did not work for free
And Sheriff Hogg was called away unexpectedly
The sheriff's re-election, the murder of the Mare
Might get Hog implicated with the . . .

A natural progression from the last song, I think:

Yeah, them smokies is thick as bugs on a bumper;
They even had a bear in the air!
I says, "Callin' all trucks, this here's the Duck.
"We about to go a-huntin' bear."

The perfect progression, I'd say!

Here come the motorcycles
Listen to those engines roar

Murder Incorporated  --  Bruce Springsteen   Clean, for a song you've said you don't care for very much, I notice you keep posting the lyrics.  You must like it a little bit.

An' his wife she overheard

Pretty Boy Floyd - Woody Guthrie

Song lyrics in that song about some killing with a gun and others with a fountain pen, spot on, more so for the later mentioned weapon in present day than 1939 approx year he wrote it.

Next song link in song title

They're looking for me
