I just have the quote from "Rasputin" going through my head... " oh those Russians".
There are good ones, but yeah the Bruins don't seem to find them... perhaps the OHL road will help this kid out though. Kvartalnov, haha, a blast from the past...
I am excited to see what Knight and Spooner bring to the table when camp opens. These two 2nd round picks look very promising in their development. I am in no hurry for the summer to end but I am excited about what we will see this fall. I think we might see them both get a call up at some point this season but they will most likely spend the season in Providence.
Anyone have any info on the Bruins negotiations to resign Marchand? The article on sportsline says the hang up is for the length of the contract - but did not specify how many years he was looking for. I think it would be NUTS not to sign Marchand. This kid has the makings of an all-star given how fantastically he played during the playoff run and the finals. He also became a fan favorite. Please resign him!! Go Bruins!
I think/hope it's going to happen , but forgive me for being a little nervous in this. The Raiders just lost Zach Miller and I don't want the Bruins to lose Brad Marchand. I know both sides want to do the deal, let's do it...because I heard this story and line play out before, and not always with a happy ending.
What do you guys think the lines will look like? Love to see Seguin come in bigger and better, if he could play w/ Bergeron and Marchand it would be pretty awesome. If the kid gets top 9 and PP minutes I would expect 40 pts if he can avoid injury....lots of 'ifs' there.
Not bad, Matty. We would need to watch our defense pairing on that second line. That's a lot of $$ out there and not much grit. I'd send my heavy hitters out to counter that line. I may get burned early but I think it would pay dividends over the long haul of the game. Not a problem if McQuaid or Boychuk is out there though.
On a side note: After watching some of the replays, I'm starting to feel the west forchecks harder than the east. They try to wear you down in your zone. The Bruins monsterous defense would have no part of that and actually turned the tide. The nucks tried to dump and chase in games 1 and 2 and were somewhat effective. But even in those games, our D punished them brutily. The bumps and bruises (and maybe the complacency of a 2 game to 0 lead) added up to the point where they tried to carry the puck in. Offensively, our forwards far outmatched thier defense. When thier forwards were unable to sustain pressure in the offensive zone due to pain, (I love that part) it was game, set, Tim Thomas.
Well Savy has not retired yet but has been ruled out for the season. This adds another 4 mil in capspace. The Bruins should be in good shape after they sign Marchand . They will have some money to make moves later in the season if needed.
Great post cpt! Would be so pumped to see the B's repeat!! So any news on when/if they are going to resign Marchand? I've been worrying about it all summer. Bad news on Savard. Kind of reminds me of Cam Neely getting his career cut short. Go Bruins!!
Nice job this time around by PC. He got this contract right, 2 years $5M. Marchand will get $2M this year and $3M next year, a $2.5M cap hit. Now PC can move on to locking up Krejci and Rask long term. Less than a month to go before the banner goes up and the quest to repeat begins.
Glad Marchy will be with us two more years love that little ball of hate. Really pumped up to DEFEND what is ours. Main players back oh yeah should be awesome. LETS GO Bruins!!! Oh yeah TT said he feels better than last year oh oh NHL watch out!!!!
thanks for the post icehound71 - that is GREAT news for the B's - as I posted - been worried about resigning Marchand all summer. He earned that contract, wouldn't you say? I think he has the makings of a future all-star. And he is definitely a BRUIN!! Whoever sees the banner hoisted - please report back with a post - those of us who don't live in Beantown need to live vicariously through you! Go Bruins!
Good thing Marchand got his money because if he wasnt a hockey player he'd have a tough time finding a job. Spelling isnt a strong suit I guess, google 'marchand tatoo' and you'll see for yourself.
Does Chris Clark make the team? Didnt see the game so I dont know if he played well or not last night in Montreal but he had the gwg.
Seguin appears ready... I also did not see either game... damn Halifax game was sold out. I did read the Canadiens could not keep up with the speed of the Bruins.. that is a switch for media to finally say. The Bs were pretty fast last season, but had the rep of being slow.
I watched the game Thursday night and the Bruins were all over the Sens. in the end they lost 2 to 1 even if they out shot them by 20. The game winner went off McQuaid. To me they looked great even the new guys looked like they were naturals. Seems to me the Bs have a lot of depth which is good to have and Kampfer went down with looked like to be a knee injury. Oct. 6 can't come fast enough ready to get this thing rolling. LETS GO BRUINS BACK to BACK!!!!!!
