I'm a huge Jets fan, and I'm not at all in favor of getting the superstar CB. Nate Clements was cut by the 49er's yesterday, and he's a much better option than Asomugha. He's not as good as Nnamdi by any means, but he's a lot better than Cromartie. He's a smart, athletic, and most of all he's a thumper. I like the idea of a thumper that plays CB in a 3-4 defense more than a cover CB.
I looked up his stats, and the guy has 33 INT's and 20 Forced Fumbles. 20 Forced fumbles from a CB! Am I the only one that thinks thats crazy? Nnamdi represents a CB. If you signed Nate Clements, he represents a CB, a FS, or even a SS if needed. He can slide into any of those roles as he slows down.
I don't want to make this super long, so I'll just throw in the facts. Nate's already gotten his 80 million deal from the 49ers, and before that he played for the Buffalo Bills. This is a guy that is ready for winning a superbowl. This is a guy that is a playmaker, and he is a Jets type of guy. I don't want a finesse, don't throw the ball my way guy like Asomugha, I want a guy that will make a play or knock the snot out of a WR even if the ball wasn't thrown directly to him.
Nnamdi wants 10 or 11 reportedly, I'm sure Mike T. could work his magic and get Clements for half that, maybe even less. Whoever gets Nnamdi is going to get a great CB, but whoever gets Nate Clements is getting the ABSOLUTE STEAL of the 2011 off season. Sign this guy!
