Colorado State coach Steve Fairchild was fired Sunday after four seasons at CSU, sources told CBSSports.com.

Fairchild was 16-33 with the Rams, including finishing 3-9 the past three seasons. Colorado State lost its season finale to Wyoming, 22-19, Saturday.

Earlier this week, Colorado State fired athletic director Paul Kowalczyk. He was replaced by Jack Graham.

lol Tom. CSU just got a 3 star recruit. That is a pretty good pick up for a team that no D-1 athlete wants to play for huh?

Someday CSU will realize that their program is not a BCS program  I would recommend they move down to FCS where they will better compete.  D-1 players do not want to play for CSU, sadly.  I think Fairchild did a great job with limited talent.  The talk of bringing in Gary Barnett is, hopefully, a joke.  He had no control over the CU program and it has been suffering ever since.  Lots of luck CSU.

North Dakota State Coach Craig Bohl is a likely candidate. B-Ball Coach Tim Miles came from NDSU and Bohl will land in D-I next season after back to back playoff runs.

Huh? They had two 3 and 9 seasons in a row and, if they had beat Wyoming this year, they would have been 4 and 8. Sorry, it makes no sense that winning this one last game versus the Pokes would have made any difference whatsoever. Particularly, when you consider, that CSU also got a new Athletic Director recently as well. Looks like the trustees were in house cleaning mode, and beating Wyoming wouldn't have mattered at all.

Colorado State is too cash strapped to make an offer to anyone big. Most likely we Rams fans will have to suffer through a couple more years of bad football with a head coach that no one has ever heard of.
Washington State and Arizona already took the coaches that would have been desperate enough to come to a school like CSU.

CSU has had a few moments in the sun although it was a while back. IOt is about tiem they got serious about finding a high quality coach used to winning with good recruitng skills. It isn;t like Ft Collins is the middle of nowhere - exactly. You can see it from there, but you have to hike a bit.
