Kansas State still undefeated

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Under appreciated and underrated: that pretty sums up Kansas State. So does undefeated.

The No. 20-ranked Wildcats held off Missouri Saturday afternoon.

The Wildcats are 5-0 for the first time since 2000 when Kansas State was the Big 12 North Division champions and finished 11-3.

Kansas State’s defense held Missouri, which rolled up 532 yards two weeks ago at Oklahoma, to less than 350 yards. Missouri had zero yards offense in the first quarter.

How much is Kansas State underappreciated nationally? The Wildcats were undefeated playing at home against 2-2 Missouri and the 20th-ranked Wildcats were between a 3-and-4 point underdog.

Yet, the Wildcats still pulled off the “upset.”

Can they win another Big 12 championship? Probably not with Oklahoma and Oklahoma State both looking very impressive. But the Sooners or Cowboys better not underestimate the Wildcats.

I'm still getting a laugh at KSU beating MU being considered an "upset".  KSU was 4-0 going in with credible wins vs. Miami and Baylor.  MU was 2-2 with losses vs. both of their credible opponents.  It wasn't even an upset in "ranking" as KSU was 20th and MU unranked.  Sorry, but the ignorance of Vegas setting a line slightly in favor of MU doesn't make it an upset.  This game became EXTREMELY winnable the instant Gabbert declared early for the NFL last spring.

The Wildcats areplaying a style of football that, while not pretty, shows a fortitude that reflects everything that Bill Snyder is about.  They don't make many mistakes,  give everything they have each and every play, and play within their talents.  Great job Wildcats!!
